April 15, 1970 was a pleasant, warm spring afternoon on Magazine Mountain. Mr. and Mrs. F.J. Swilling and a friend were picking poke sallet at the old rock quarry near the top of Magazine Mountain.
1861, the first transcontinental telegraph message was sent from San Francisco, California by Chief Justice Stephen J. Field to President Abraham Lincoln in Washington D.C. over a line built by the Western Union Telegraph Co.
My mother (bless her heart) is one of those unique individuals who justly can be described as a “health food nut.”
