Quilts Of Valor

Each quilt is made by a local volunteer artisan through the River Valley Stars Chapter of the Quilts of Valor nonprofit organization.

The potluck dinner, hosted by Logan County Veteran’s Service, was attended by 67 Veterans, their families, friends, and members of the community. They have already started work on next year’s event, having already received 20 nominations for quilt recipients. If you or someone you know enjoys quilting as a hobby, they would love to have you. Please reach out to Mary Garman at 479-675-5650.

The Logan County Veterans Service office is open Wednesdays and Thursdays at the South Logan County Courthouse. Mary Garman is also a Veteran, having served a tour in Iraq as a nurse. She was stationed at Fort Chaffee before retiring from active duty.

Services the office provides include helping Veterans apply for benefits, including educational and basic healthcare eligibility, acquiring a missing DD214, and navigating the VA mission Act, which allows Veterans to use local healthcare providers. Mary also assists spouses in filing for benefits upon the death of a Veteran and offers help in obtaining grave markers.
