Booneville Police 2021 Recap

As we move forward into 2022, I would like to update the readers of the RattleCat on what the Booneville Police Department has been doing. Officers finished up 2021 with outstanding numbers! We finished the year with a total of 709 arrests and generated 543 reports. Out of the 709 arrests, 231 were for ticked offenses. Officers made 91 of those arrests for Driving on Suspended License, 30 for Disorderly Conduct, 143 for Misdemeanor Warrants, and 94 Warrant arrests were for Failure to Appear. There were 69 arrests for Felony Warrants. Felony Warrant charges consisted of Terroristic Threatening, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons, Internet Stalking of a child, and several other charges. BNPD made 196 arrests for other Law Enforcement Departments; 125 of those arrests were for the Logan County Sheriff’s Office. Officers also worked 106 vehicle accidents in the city limits and unlocked 226 vehicles. (This is a free service to the residents of Booneville). Last year we made a big push towards cleaning up the appearance of our town with 42 residences served with orders to clean/mow their property. Most complied but 6 were issued citations. Officers will soon be issuing clean-up orders for 2022. As of January 28th, 2022, Officers have made 49 arrests.

On top of all the arrests, paperwork, and day-to-day policing, The Booneville Police Department also had its second Shop with a Cop Event. On December 18th, 2021, 68 children were invited to Shop with a Cop at our local Walmart.

They were all given a $200 spending limit. The kids were asked to purchase clothing items first and then could purchase other items for Christmas with the remainder of their money. Walmart provided donuts and drinks for the families and Officers. First Western Bank also handed out hot chocolate and cookies. Several children used this opportunity to purchase gifts for their family and friends. Funds for the event were raised by donations and fundraisers. Thank You again to everyone that makes this possible for area Law Enforcement to make a community presence. Photos of the event can be seen on the Booneville Police Department Facebook page.

We continue to look for ways to be involved in the community and have a positive impact on our children. This year during spring break we are planning a day at the park with any kids that want to play some games. We will be announcing more details at a later date. Please feel free to contact me, Chief Benjamin Villarreal, if you have any concerns or questions. Office phone 479-675-3508, email booneville.chief@outlook.com
